Why Sender Reputation Matters
When you send email, inbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) track your behaviour. A high bounce rate signals that you're sending to bad addresses — which gets your domain flagged, your IPs blacklisted, and your campaigns sent straight to spam.
The rule of thumb: Keep bounces below 2%. Above that, you're in trouble.
How Bounces Happen
Invalid emails are the main culprit:
- Typos (
gmial.cominstead ofgmail.com) - Role addresses that are no longer monitored (
info@,noreply@) - Accounts that were deleted after you collected the address
- Fake emails from signups
What Mailtrix Does
Before you send a single campaign, Mailtrix checks every address against live mail servers. We remove the ones that will bounce, leaving you with a clean list.
Result: Lower bounce rate. Better deliverability. More emails in the inbox.
Best Practices
- Verify on signup — Use the Mailtrix API to check emails as users register
- Clean before every campaign — Even a list from 3 months ago can have 5–10% decay
- Remove catch-all cautiously — Catch-all domains accept everything, but deliverability is uncertain
- Monitor your risky segment — Send to Risky emails only if engagement is high
Protect your reputation once, benefit from it forever.
